Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse

Location: Bel Air, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule & Requirements

  • Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holidays required as scheduled
  • Floating required within specialty, sister units, and lower acuity areas as needed

Experience & Certifications

  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 3 years clinical experience required (higher value between 3 years clinical pass and 2 years screening)
  • Prior travel experience: Not required; first-time travelers will be considered
  • Required Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
    • NIH Stroke Certification (must be updated annually)
  • Preferred Certification:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred but not mandatory

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • I9 or Attestation required prior to start
  • Government Issued Photo ID required
  • Background checks including:
    • 7-year criminal search within 30 days of start (updated annually)
    • SSN Trace, Counties, Nationwide, Sex Offender, OFAC
    • Education verification
    • Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
  • Drug Testing: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30-45 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start, including Latex Screen
  • Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for certain units)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters required)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted; series not accepted)
    • Flu Vaccine or Medical/Religious exemption required during flu season (10/6-3/31)
    • COVID vaccine not required but documentation collected for tracking

Competency Exams & Training

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
  • Competency Exam relevant to specialty/unit (score 80% or higher)
  • Age Specific Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (score 80% or higher; required for all units except some exclusions)
  • Facility-specific unit job description must be signed prior to start
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training required as applicable; may be completed during orientation

References & Employment History

  • Two supervisory/professional references required within 1 year of start (one must be a supervisor/manager; charge RN acceptable)
  • Previous 5 years of employment history verification required (attestation accepted if necessary)
  • Agency application/resume must be completed within 30 days of start

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Confidentiality Agreement and Dress Code review/sign prior to start
  • Badge photo required (passport/badge style with solid white/beige background)
  • Various facility-specific documents and policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start (e.g., Appearance Standards, Standards of Business Conduct, Fingernail Hygiene Policy, OSHA Questionnaire)
  • Security ID Application must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
  • Self Learning Program review prior to start for orientation post-test
