Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Paramus, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• License Requirements:

  • New Jersey or Compact RN License
• Experience:

  • Home Health experience required
• Travel:

  • Mileage reimbursement provided for travel between visit locations and for mileage exceeding distance between home and client office

Required Certifications

• ACLS (AHA only)
• BLS (AHA only)
• PALS (AHA only) – for select units (Float Pool PEDS, ED, PEDS, ENDO, OR, Respiratory)
• NRP – required for Labor and Delivery, Mother Baby, NICU
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – required for Labor and Delivery (AWHONN Advanced or NCC C-EFM within 2 years)
• State License Verification – must be run within 30 days prior to start; no temporary or emergency licenses accepted without approval
• NURSYS Verification – for RNs, must be run within 30 days prior to start
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
• Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing – required for all RN specialties

Competency Exams & Testing

• Pass/Fail Testing:

  • Telemetry Competency Exam (all RNs)
  • Medication Exam (all RNs)
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam:

  • Minimum 80% score, updated annually
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam:

  • Required for all RNs (80% pass rate), updated annually
  • Not required for Home Health, IV, Same Day Surgery, Post-Partum, Radiation Oncology RN
• Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III):

  • Required for all candidates, updated annually, 80% passing score
  • Covers National Patient Safety, HIPAA, OSHA topics, Infection Control, Ethics, Patient Rights, and more
• Color Blind Testing:

  • Must be completed within 1 year of assignment start (Ishihara test)

Health & Immunization Requirements (Must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)

• Physical Exam or Statement of Health (within 12 months)
• Fit Mask Test (N95 or equivalent)
• Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (annual Quantiferon Gold or T-spot within 6 months)
• Proof of Immunity or Vaccination for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (titer or declination)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred, not required)
• Drug Testing: Negative 9 Panel within 30 days of start (no pending or rapid tests)
• Flu Vaccination (mandatory, no declinations accepted)
• COVID-19 Vaccination: Completed series and booster required

Background & Verification Requirements

• 7-year background check including:

  • Counties Lived/Worked
  • Statewide, National Sex Offender, National Criminal, OIG Sanction Search, SAM.gov, OFAC
• Employment Verification: 7 years required, must be completed 2 Fridays prior to start
• Education Verification: 3rd party verification of highest education level required; diploma can be used as placeholder if pending
• References: Two required

  • One supervisory reference from within 12 months
  • One professional reference from within 3 years
• Skills Checklist: Unit-specific skills checklist required

Additional Information

• Candidates must complete a facility-specific self-learning module and post-test with a 100% passing score prior to start
• Pass/fail testing will be administered onsite; candidates have one attempt
• Mileage reimbursement follows IRS Standard Mileage Rate guidelines
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with home health experience who hold a valid NJ or compact license and are comfortable with travel between patient visit locations.
