Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - NICU

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse - NICU
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 5 days, no more than 2 consecutive days; no RTO on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after a holiday
  • Floating: Mandatory float within scope as per facility needs
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Experience & Certifications

  • Required Years of Experience: Minimum 2+ years as an RN
  • Required Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RNs in critical care and related specialties; must be updated annually)

Licensing & Location Requirements

  • License: Must have an active RN license (pending licenses not accepted)
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, locals preferred
  • Residence Requirement: Must live within 75 miles of the facility

  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
  • Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and color blindness testing as required

Cons
