Job Opportunity: EEG Tech (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
Location: Portland, Oregon

Job Description
- Position floats between units.
- On-call required: Yes, rotating weekday and weekend call. Typically 2-4 weekdays per month and 1 weekend every six weeks.
- Weekend shifts required approximately 1 weekend every 6 weeks, with occasional weekend day shifts coverage during PTO.
- Block schedules required.
- Expected patient ratio: 1:1.
- On-call coverage includes 3 to 4 call shifts per month (weekdays and weekends).
- On-call shifts start at 4pm and end at 7am; pagers turn off at 9pm, after which only neurologists can call in the EEG tech.
- EEG techs are paid for a minimum of 3 hours while on call, with additional call-back incentives if called in.
- Typically called in for about 50% of on-call assignments.
- No requirement to work normal shift after on-call; can call out post-call without using PTO.
- 48-hour workweek approval: No.

Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (EEG Tech)
- Required Years of Experience: 2 years (highest requirement found)
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
- Other certifications may be required based on clinical track and unit (verify with clinical leadership)
Licenses
- State License appropriate for Oregon
- NURSYS verification required for applicable licenses (RNs, LPNs)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
- Various state-specific background checks and registries as applicable
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria) within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates
- Fit mask testing required annually (onsite if no recent record)
Competencies and Training
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Competency exams required by specialty/unit
- Color Blind Testing if required by unit (minimum 80% score)
- Facility-specific training modules via WorkRamp platform (including Core, Specialty, and Regulatory modules)
- Epic training modules required for charting system proficiency
Scheduling and Work Conditions
- Floating between units may be required
- On-call shifts with specific scheduling rules (minimum 4-5 day interval between call shifts)
- Ability to call out post-call without PTO usage
- Rotation includes weekdays and weekends
References and Employment History
- Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years required
