Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, no weekends
- Department Equipment: Philips Digital 7300
- Immediate on-call responsibility
- Must obtain Indiana state license
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only (if applicable)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - if applicable
- CCRN (Critical Care RN) - if applicable
- National Tech Certification as applicable (e.g., NBRC for RRTs, CBSPD/IAHCSMM for Sterile Processing Techs)
- State License Verification within 30 days of start
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for specific units)
Required Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Color Blind Testing (14 plate Ishihara exam)
- Unit-specific Competency Exam (updated every 3 years)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (for RNs in ICU, PACU, Pediatrics, Tele)
- Core Parts I, II, III (annual updates required)
- OSHA Mandatory Training (annual update required)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, confirming fitness for duty
- N95 Mask Fit Testing within 1 year (not required for Sterile Processing Techs, Clerical, Remote)
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray per facility guidelines
- Annual TB Questionnaire (for agency compliance)
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (including Surface AG and AB titers for renal dialysis assignments)
- Varicella
- Negative 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Dec 1 - Apr 30)
Background Checks
- Criminal Background Check within 6 months (7-year search including alias, county, national sex offender)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start, updated monthly
Documentation & Other Requirements
- Professional References: Minimum 1 management-level reference and 1 employment verification covering 1 year of experience within past 2 years
- Employment Application submission required
- Unit-specific Skills Checklist required
- Badge Photo with white background required 2 weeks prior to start
- Facility-specific compliance checklists and online training modules must be completed prior to orientation (Sterile Processing Techs exempt from online training)
- Facility-specific policies (e.g., fingernail policy) must be signed prior to start
