Overview

• Travel/Contract assignment in Little Rock, Arkansas
• Day shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00–19:00
• Every other weekend
• 36 hours per week
• 12-week contract

Unit Details

• MedSurg unit with 128 beds
• Float pool between Med/Onc, 2 surgical units, and 2 medical units
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
• Total care; no PCAs
• No tele on the unit; occasional strip reading only
• Remote tele monitoring
• Charge nurse is present and takes an assignment
• Nurse aids/patient care techs are present; ratios vary
• Respiratory support is readily available; nurses do not manage vents, CPAP, BiPAP, or high flow beyond troubleshooting
• Floating may be required to any Med/Surg pod
• Navy scrubs required; scrubs not provided
• 3 shifts of unit orientation

Patient Population

• Surgical services: colorectal, hepatobiliary, bariatric, general, ortho
• Medical conditions including diabetes, heart disease, COPD, kidney, and GI conditions

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Arkansas
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association
• 2 years of Med Surg experience
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• Primary source verification of state license
• Nursing school diploma or transcript
• Two professional references from positions worked within the last 2 years

Additional Required Compliance

• Background check within 12 months of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM within 12 months of start
• HHS/OIG within 12 months of start
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam within 1 year of start and updated annually
• Competency exam within 1 year of start and updated annually
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam
• Annual physical exam
• Tdap within the last 10 years
• Negative TB test within 12 months of start, or chest X-ray within 5 years for positive responders
• MMR immunizations or titers
• Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
• Varicella vaccine or titer
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within the past 12 months
• Flu vaccine or declination during the current season
• COVID-19 vaccination unless an approved exemption applies
