Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Louisville, Kentucky

Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit, you will be responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. You will assess, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care while supervising licensed and non-licensed staff. The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, quality outcomes, patient education, and mentoring/precepting staff. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and participate in quality, safety, and service improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent clinical decisions.
Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise patient care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during the stay and at discharge.
Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; serve as a mentor and preceptor.
Promote teamwork and communicate opportunities for improvement.
Participate in quality, safety, and service process improvements and comply with regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
Acute care experience in an inpatient setting
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Information

This position requires working night shifts in a Progressive Care Unit setting.
The role involves leadership responsibilities including mentoring and supervising staff.
