Job Summary
The Surgical Tech assists the healthcare team during the intra-operative period by preparing and handling surgical instruments and equipment, and assisting the surgeon throughout the procedure. This role requires knowledge of specific surgical procedures, prioritization, planning, and problem-solving skills due to the dynamic nature of the operating room. The Surgical Tech must respond immediately in urgent or emergency situations and apply aseptic technique consistently. Patient care spans all age groups from neonate to geriatric.
Responsibilities
- Maintain aseptic technique during surgical duties to ensure positive patient outcomes.
- Care for, prepare, handle, and maintain surgical instrumentation.
- Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts consistently according to policy.
- Adhere to professional standards of practice.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Surgical Technician experience, including experience within the last year.
- Significant experience with neuro (spine/crani) procedures.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification.
- High School Diploma or GED.
