Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN ensures compliance with professional standards and promotes a patient-centered, healing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
• Serve as primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely according to policy.
• Participate in resource management including staffing and supplies.
• Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies.
• Support Nursing Shared Governance Model and participate in improvement initiatives.
• Engage in professional development and continuing education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Provide a supportive learning environment for new staff and students.
• Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned.
• Participate in the Clinical Ladder Program as expertise develops.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year.
• Cardiology experience preferred.

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.

Licensure & Certifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
