MRI Technologist Travel Position
Location: Mount Pleasant, South Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied-Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Perform MRI procedures under the supervision of certified radiologists following established protocols.
- Assist radiologists during procedures and supervise student MRI technologists.
- Ensure patient care and safety during imaging, using age-appropriate care.
- Obtain correct written orders and efficiently manage patient care assignments.
- Educate and prepare patients for imaging procedures, assist with informed consent, and communicate effectively with patients and families.
- Ensure accurate documentation of orders, diagnosis, and clinical history.
- Maintain professional communication with radiologists and other healthcare team members.
Responsibilities
- Utilize imaging equipment efficiently to minimize repeat exams and control supply costs.
- Adhere to hospital, departmental, and safety policies including radiation safety (ALARA principles).
- Complete mandatory annual in-services and maintain current licensure.
- Support department goals and maintain confidentiality of medical information.
- Assist other imaging team members and departments as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
- Take initiative to improve departmental operations and complete required documentation.
Qualifications
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.
- Graduate of an accredited Allied Health Professionals school.
- Prefer experience in cross-sectional anatomy or MRI.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to perform and teach MRI exams producing diagnostic-quality images.
- Knowledge of OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and TJC standards and regulations.
- Competent in safe operation of MRI and post-processing equipment.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Physical and Work Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, and lifting/moving patients (up to 50 lbs).
- Frequent use of hand/finger dexterity and reaching with hands/arms.
- Frequent talking and hearing; corrected hearing and vision required.
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, radiation, and occasional toxic chemicals.
- Work environment ranges from quiet to moderate noise levels.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions, meet deadlines, and work irregular hours including possible call, weekends, and holidays.
This position requires a mature, professional individual who maintains strict confidentiality and demonstrates accountability and teamwork in a healthcare setting.
