Registered Nurse (RN) - Norwich, New York

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN ensures compliance with professional standards and promotes a patient-centered, caring, and healing environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
  • Serve as a primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
  • Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
  • Administer medications safely using pharmacology knowledge.
  • Share responsibility for productivity and resource utilization (staffing, time, supplies).
  • Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies.
  • Participate in Nursing Shared Governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
  • Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
  • Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
  • Support learning for new employees and students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Contract Length

  • 9 weeks

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of direct nursing experience (this is the higher requirement over other listed ranges).
  • Nursing (RN) experience between 6 months and 3 years.
  • Management experience between 0 and 3 years.
  • Strong collaboration, communication (verbal & written), judgment, critical thinking, organizational skills, planning, problem solving, quality focus, reliability, and safety/risk management.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Previous clinical nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory settings.

Education Requirements

  • Required: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Certifications & Licensure

  • Required: Current New York State RN License.
  • Required: BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
  • Unit-specific certifications as required.
  • Preferred: Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
  • Preferred: Relevant skills certifications such as ACLS, PALS, TNCC as required by the assigned unit.
