Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel assignment in Henderson, Kentucky
• 13-week contract
• Day shift: 12 hours, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week; may accept 48-hour contracts upon request
• No local candidates within a 40-mile radius

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kentucky
• Med Surg (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• AHA BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with Epic

Schedule and Assignment Details

• Start date: 10/5
• Bi-weekly orientation
• Every third weekend
• Every other holiday
• First to float within skillset
• May float to Deaconess Newburgh (IN) campus and potentially to Deaconess Midtown (IN)
• 2-hour notice for cross-campus float
• Mid-shift float within the same campus
• Cross-campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible

Unit Details

• 45-bed unit
• Day ratio: 1:4-5
• Night ratio: 1:5-7

Clinical Focus

• General Med/Surg patient population including gallbladder, colectomy, appendectomy, hip/knee replacements/ORIFs, COVID, GI bleeds, CHF, COPD, sepsis, UTI, and respiratory cases
• Skills include PIV insertion, chest tube/indwelling drain management, CBI, drip management (heparin, cardizem), PEGs/NGs, ostomy care, remote tele, blood product administration, NIHSS, and dysphagia screening

Additional Notes

• Teaching hospital; may require precepting students and new hires
• Navy blue scrubs required
• COVID-19 vaccine not required
• 3 call-ins can result in termination
