Job Summary

The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care following established policies and protocols. The nurse maintains skills appropriate to the patient age group served on the unit, coordinates patient care within the interdisciplinary team, and provides patient education to ensure safe discharge.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily patient rounds to ensure quality care and address unmet needs.
• Develop individualized care plans based on comprehensive patient assessments including physical, psychological, social, educational, developmental, and rehabilitative needs.
• Assess patient condition and nursing needs; set goals and implement nursing actions accordingly, including discharge planning.
• Promptly assess and manage patient pain according to standard procedures.
• Identify early warning signs of patient condition changes and respond appropriately, including emergency interventions when necessary.
• Communicate observations and patient reactions to the multidisciplinary team and document accurately. Complete incident reports as required.
• Maintain communication and provide educational opportunities to patients and families.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient/family education early to optimize understanding.
• Delegate nursing interventions safely within scope of practice and competence.
• Perform other duties as needed to meet department and organizational needs.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Dakota
• Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
