Contract Length

Schedule

Nights
12-hour shifts
36 hours per week
Weekend requirement: every other weekend

Unit Overview

PCU
55 beds
Patient population: adults; pediatrics are rare and limited to ages 15 and older
Float assignment may include medical-surgical areas based on unit need

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Nebraska
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
ACLS
BLS
NIHSS
Driver's License
Telemetry competency
Must be outside the 50-mile radius
Cannot be currently full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity

Clinical Skills / Unit Expectations

Telemetry
Manage common PCU diagnoses including CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID, subdural hematoma, and weakness
Experience with PCA pumps, Cardizem, and insulin drips/medications
Strong focus on hourly rounding and responsiveness
Ability to manage a busy unit and work well in a tight-knit team

Additional Notes

Pass/fail open-book exam during orientation; a score of 90% is required to continue
Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
Navy blue scrubs are required
Nursing assistant support is available
Charge nurse is present
Mechanical lifts are available in every other room
