Dietitian Position in Ohio

Job Details

• Location: Barnesville, Ohio
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shift
• Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
• Work Days: Monday through Friday, no on-call

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) license in Ohio
• Minimum of 1 year of recent clinical experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Core Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, high-quality medical nutrition therapy to patients
• Complete physician-ordered consults and document findings in the medical record
• Document NPO/Clear Liquid notes by day five and follow up until nutrition is provided unless contraindicated
• Accurately complete and document calorie counts and summarize results within 24 hours if nutritional recommendations are needed
• Calculate and report nitrogen balance and metabolic cart study results in a timely manner
• Perform nutrition assessments on high-risk patients, including diet appropriateness, tube feeding, infant formula, parenteral nutrition orders, lab values, drug-nutrient interactions, medical history, and care plan development
• Utilize order writing privileges for Medical Nutrition Therapies within scope of practice, with physician co-signature as required
• Follow up on assessments and consults according to standards of care
• Collaborate with physicians, nurse managers, nursing staff, and speech pathologists to improve patient nutrition therapy, including diet texture modifications and medication timing to prevent drug-nutrient interactions
• Address patient food complaints and coordinate with management on food quality issues
• Provide guidance and supervision to nutritional therapy support team as needed, including documentation and intervention for errors or harmful interactions
• Participate in local or national meetings/conferences as required for accreditation or partnership development
• Oversee clinical rotation assignments for interns, including teaching specialized nutrition topics, monitoring intern performance, reviewing documentation, and evaluating progress
• Develop and present in-services to healthcare personnel and food service staff

This position offers a structured weekday schedule with no call responsibilities, focusing on clinical nutrition therapy and interdisciplinary collaboration.
