Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg-Rehab

Location: Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing individualized nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation). The role involves collaborating with inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan and evaluate patient care. The RN practices within the full scope of nursing expertise and adheres to age and population-specific standards in the assigned clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care across all phases: preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
• Plan and coordinate patient care, including assessment, education, triage, and nursing interventions.
• Adhere to legal regulations and organizational policies regarding patient health information.
• Manage care for patients, including those with complex needs.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Delegate and supervise nursing tasks according to state practice acts.
• Maintain productive working relationships within and outside the nursing area.
• Promote a safe environment for patients, families, staff, and visitors.
• May float to similar Med Surg units as needed.
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4-5 on day shifts, 1:5-6 on night shifts.
• Work schedule: Straight nights, every other weekend and holiday.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license for South Dakota.
• BLS Certification.
• Experience in Med Surg-Rehab nursing.
• Must practice within the scope and standards outlined by the Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.

Additional Information

• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs.
• Clinicians who have previously worked for the facility must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission.
• All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility.
