Surgical Tech – California (Grass Valley)

Job Details

• Specialty: OR Tech (Surgical Tech)
• Location: Grass Valley, California
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day and Evening shifts
• Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
• Unit: Operating Room with 3 suites (2 in use most of the time)
• Typical Surgeries: Orthopedic, orthopedic trauma, general surgery
• EMR System: Cerner
• Call: Required; varies—expect call every other weekend (EOW) and holiday rotation
• Weekend Requirement: No regular weekends; 1 weekend call per month
• Holiday Requirement: Work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s) on a rotating basis with core staff; holiday time off considered but not guaranteed
• Orientation: 1–2 days floor-specific orientation in OR with preceptor
• Shift Details: 8-hour shifts with varied start times
• Additional Info: Strong orthopedic background preferred; first to float

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Tech
• Active BLS certification
• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips (Telemetry skills required)
• Must provide 2 supervisory references at time of submittal:

  • 1 reference within the last 12 months
  • 1 reference within the last 3 years
• Completion of required modules before assignment start (3–4 hours, unpaid)

• Charge Nurse: Manager
• Nurse Aides: CSTs
• Scrub color provided
• Ventilator support available
• Surgeon available 24/7 during regular hours; on-call overnight and weekends
• Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7
• No IV team on unit

This position is ideal for Surgical Techs with solid orthopedic experience who are comfortable with call responsibilities and working varied shifts in a busy OR setting.
