Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU 4N

Location: Savannah, Georgia
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Shift: Days (7 AM – 7 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Unit Details:

  • 12 beds
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5 depending on acuity
  • Unit combines Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Med-Surg/Telemetry beds
  • Common patient diagnoses: Med-Surg, Sickle Cell, Heart Failure
  • Telemetry skills required; unit uses Space Lab tele monitors (monitored remotely)
  • RNs titrate set-rate drips (no phlebotomy; RNs draw their own labs)
  • Charge nurse takes assignment
  • Nurse aides present with 1:12 ratio
  • Respiratory therapy equipment includes nasal cannulas, face masks, BiPAP
  • No floating required
  • Dress code: Navy scrubs
  • Scheduling: Self-scheduling allowed, block scheduling encouraged
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday requirement: Yes
  • No call or standby required

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license valid at time of submission
  • Minimum 2 years of hospital experience in a similar size and acuity setting
  • Successful completion of at least 1 prior travel nursing contract
  • BLS certification (AHA Basic Life Support)

Additional Requirements & Notes

  • Strict 100-mile radius rule: local candidates will not be considered
  • Candidates must pass clinical resume review before submission
  • Submission must include:
    • Full availability including requested time off
    • Start date aligned with compliance timelines
    • Current references in the same specialty/modality
    • Resume details: number of beds and trauma level of recent facilities, employment type, and shifts worked per month if PRN
  • Facility requires a clean license record (no license hits); a current NURSYS report must be included with submission
  • Orientation includes one day of computer skills training with a knowledge assessment and two shifts with a preceptor
  • Onboarding must be completed at least 7 calendar days before the start date
  • Interview process includes clinical profile review and manager interview; candidates should expect a call from a 912 area code
