Certifications & Experience

• Required Certifications:

  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Certified Cardiac Interventional Rad Tech - ARRT (CI) Verification
  • Certified Vascular Interventional Rad Tech - ARRT (VI) Verification
• Experience:

  • Prior Cath Lab or Radiologic Tech experience required
  • Minimum 1 year experience
  • First-time travelers with good experience are acceptable

Job Duties

• Scrub and assist physicians during procedures
• Must know sterile technique
• RNs handle circulation, sedation, and documentation
• Common procedures include diagnostic left and right heart catheterizations, PCI, IABP, and temporary pacemaker placement

Equipment & Software

• Siemens software and equipment used in the Cath Lab

Scheduling & Shifts

• Work schedule: 5 days per week
• Start and stop times vary based on case scheduling
• Orientation: General hospital orientation plus department-specific computer training and up to 36 hours (4 ten-hour shifts including late days) in the Cath Lab

Call & On-Call Requirements

• On-call 24/7 for cardiologists and Cath Lab Techs
• Call schedule: 1 week of on-call per 4-week schedule (Monday 7 AM to following Monday 7 AM)
• Call can be consecutive days or split throughout the week
• Weekend call: Friday after hours until Monday 7 AM (if not on Monday-to-Monday call)
• Holiday call: Rotational
• Call response time: 30 minutes
• Mandatory call/standby requirement for Cath Lab Techs

Additional Information

• Radiation badge must be provided by the agency (not provided by the facility)
• No floating required; extra hours possible on other units if experienced
• Surgical attire provided
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Candidates cannot exceed 1 year total with the system; after 1 year, a 2-year break is required before returning
• Prior employees must have a 2-year break before reapplying through an agency
• Candidates with license issues will not be accepted
