Job Opportunity: ED Holds/Tele Nurse

Location: Chandler, Arizona
Facility: Chandler Regional Medical Center


Position Overview

  • Tele nursing position focused on ED holds patients primarily on Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units.
  • Nurses will care for patients waiting in the ED for hospital bed placement.
  • Strong cardiac telemetry skills required; nurses must be able to titrate cardiac drips per physician orders.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Experience & Certifications

  • Minimum 2 years recent experience (within past 6 months) in cardiac telemetry nursing.
  • Must have ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certification (AHA or APEX).
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer (max 2 attempts).
  • Pass/fail simulation lab on day one of orientation.

Patient Population & Unit Details

  • ED holds patients, primarily medical-surgical and telemetry.
  • Facility ED beds: Chandler Regional Medical Center (60 beds), plus overflow to other ED (31 beds).
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4.
  • No ventilators on unit.
  • Nurses must read and interpret cardiac strips; no monitor techs available.
  • Cardiac drips commonly titrated: Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone.

Shift & Scheduling

  • 12-hour shifts (7am-7pm or 7pm-7am).
  • Self-scheduling ability, subject to change.
  • Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule.
  • Holiday requirement: Rotate with permanent staff, must work 2 of 4 major holidays.
  • No call or standby required.

Orientation & Training

  • 2 shifts orientation to Med/Surg/Telemetry at primary campus.
  • Study guides provided for simulation lab.

Additional Information

  • Nurses may be asked to assist with ED patient care tasks such as vitals, IV starts, and medication administration but will not be primary RN for ED patient assignments.
  • Floating required to med/surg/tele/overflow units and between Chandler Regional and other EDs as needed.
  • Dress code: Navy scrubs.

This role is ideal for experienced telemetry nurses comfortable with cardiac drip titration and tele skills, seeking a telehealth-focused ED holds position with a structured orientation and clear scheduling expectations.
