Medical Laboratory Technologist (Medical Laboratory) - Contract in Alaska
Location
- Bethel, Alaska
Employment Type
- Contract
- Duration: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
- Shift: Variable 8-hour shifts (days, evenings, or nights)
- Hours per week: 32
Job Summary
- Perform laboratory tests and quality control procedures under the direction of the laboratory manager.
- Communicate results and information with physicians, nurses, and patients.
- Work independently and provide direction to Medical Laboratory Assistants.
- Utilize clinical laboratory instrumentation as a generalist in chemistry, blood bank, hematology, and microbiology.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
- Certification by NCA.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
- Medical Laboratory Technician experience within the last year.
Licensure
- Certification as MT (ASCP) or CLS (NCA) required within one year of employment.

- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Measles
- Mumps
- Rubella
- T-Dap
- Polio
Titers or historical vaccination records accepted. Candidates unable to provide proof of these immunizations will not be accepted.
Additional Requirements for Onboarding
- Copy of photo ID
- Copy of Social Security card
- Professional license and/or certification
- Copy of education or transcripts (if required)
- Background check results (national and criminal)
- 10-panel drug screen within the last 90 days
- Competency testing checklist
- OIG report for all alias names
- SAM report for all alias names
- National sex offender registry search for all alias names
- OSHA report
- OFAC report
- Fit test or physical exam
- Emergency contact information
- Three professional references
Other Important Information
- Private housing is not provided; housing consists of shared units.
- No pets allowed in housing.
- Airfare must be paid initially by the candidate or agency and will be reimbursed upon arrival.
- Flight itinerary must be provided at least one week in advance for scheduling orientation and housing.
- New Employee Orientation is held only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
- Candidates are not permitted to travel until all credentials have been received and cleared.
- Proof of completed COVID-19 vaccinations is required.
