Unit Details

• Unit: 6th Floor Med-Surg/Oncology
• Bed count: 36
• Patient ratio: 1:6
• Patient population: Med-surg, oncology, hospice, and hemodynamically stable patients requiring cardiac monitoring with no interventions
• Floating: Med-Surg and Telemetry (med-surg level patients)
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend; every third weekend also noted
• Call: No call

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Oncology experience within the last year
• 1 year of oncology experience
• BLS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Skills and Unit Procedures

• Team-oriented, positive attitude, able to stay busy, patient-centered
• Wound vac changes
• Drain removal
• IV/PICC line care
• Foley insertion and removal
• NG insertion and removal

Additional Notes

• Documentation system: Meditech
• Unit staffing includes clinical care coordinators, RNs, LPNs, PCTs, and a unit secretary
• Equipment includes I-med, I-mobile, Neurons vital signs machine, glucometer, PCA, wound vac, chest tubes, and surgical drains
