Position Details

  • Specialty: Medical Telemetry, Intermediate Care (IMC)
  • Shift: Day and Night shifts available
  • Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Float Requirements:
    • IMC RNs may float to other IMC level care units or med/surg units as needed.
    • Med/surg RNs may float to other med/surg units with similar level of care.
    • Floating depends on unit needs and RN skill level.

Experience & Certifications

  • Required Years of Experience: 2 years in specialty (Medical Telemetry / IMC)
  • Must Have Skills:
    • Ventilator experience (for IMC RNs)
    • Experience with tracheostomy care
    • Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Education: Mandatory onboarding education specific to the facility

Unit Information

  • Number of Beds: 43
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Med/Surg Day Shift: 1:4-5
    • Med/Surg Night Shift: 1:5-6
    • IMC Day and Night: 1:3
  • Patient Types:
    • Respiratory conditions
    • Medical telemetry patients
    • Some surgical cases
    • Sepsis, DKA, altered mental status
    • Failure to thrive, respiratory failure
    • Various acute on chronic medical conditions
  • Equipment Used:
    • Ventilators, BiPaP, CPAP
    • CPAP, nasal cannula, non-rebreather masks
    • Epidural pumps, IV pumps, specialty beds
    • PCA pumps, VAC dressings, trach care/maintenance
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Epic

    • Professional scrubs required
