Travel RN - Med Surg (Surgical Unit)

Location: Cape Girardeau, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks (with option to extend up to 26 weeks)
Shift: Nights (7pm - 7am)
Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed (option for 48 hours/week)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
Call Requirements: None

Unit Information

• Department: Surgical Unit (Med Surg - Surgical)
• Number of Beds: 23
• Patient Ratios: 1:6
• Equipment: IV pumps and customary surgical unit equipment
• EMR System: EPIC
• Patient Type: Post-surgical Med-Surg patients (urology, ortho, general surgery, medical overflow)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience within the last year
• Experience in post-surgical care including urology and orthopedics
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Additional Requirements & Expectations

• Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1 (exemptions require approval)
• Must be a team player with good communication skills
• Dress code: Black scrubs required
• Expected to work at least one major holiday during the contract (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s Day)
• Up to 5 days off allowed during the 13-week contract (additional time off requires approval and may need to be made up)

Summary of Role

Deliver nursing care by developing nursing diagnoses, establishing care objectives, and providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families. Monitor patient conditions, medications, and self-care skills, and adjust care plans as needed.
