Job Summary
Anesthesia Technician responsible for comprehensive support to anesthesia providers in the operating room and other clinical areas. Duties include preoperative preparation, intraoperative support, postoperative care, emergency response, and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies to ensure safe and efficient patient care.

Primary Responsibilities
- Preoperative Duties: Prepare and set up anesthesia equipment, assemble and test machines, organize medications and supplies, maintain stock levels, and ensure sterile and safety standards.
- Intraoperative Support: Assist with patient positioning, airway management, intubation/extubation, monitor anesthesia equipment, assist with blood transfusions and medication administration, facilitate room turnovers, and restock supplies.
- Postoperative Duties: Clean, disinfect, and restock equipment, assist with patient recovery and transfer, dispose of biohazardous waste, and document equipment maintenance.
- Emergency Response: Provide immediate assistance during emergencies, supply emergency equipment, support resuscitation efforts, and maintain emergency cart readiness.
- Monitoring Equipment Management: Set up and troubleshoot monitoring devices (EKG, blood pressure monitors, pulse oximetry, capnography, etc.), assist with invasive monitoring lines, and provide transport monitors.
- Anesthesia Gas Machine Management: Troubleshoot and maintain anesthesia gas machines, perform daily quality control, and replace consumables like sodalime.
- Sterile Field Preparation: Adhere to sterile techniques, assist in maintaining sterile fields, and demonstrate proper gowning and gloving.
- Intravenous Therapy Support: Prepare and manage hotline setups, assist with arterial and central line placements, and manage fluid and blood conservation systems.
- Stock and Supply Management: Maintain anesthesia supply levels across ORs and emergency carts, restock various anesthesia carts.
- Mobile Case Support: Assist anesthesia providers in off-site cases, ensure knowledge of equipment locations and connections in various hospital departments.
- Induction/Intubation Assistance: Prepare intubation equipment, assist with difficult airway cases, and perform cricoid pressure when required.
- Pediatric Anesthesia Support: Operate pediatric anesthesia equipment, assist in pediatric IV placement and airway management, and ensure appropriately sized equipment for pediatric patients.
- General Responsibilities: Maintain compliance with safety protocols, stay updated on anesthesia technology, train new staff, and respond promptly to anesthesia personnel requests.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an Anesthesia Technician, with experience within the last year
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Strong understanding of anesthesia equipment, procedures, and sterile techniques
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and minor maintenance of anesthesia machines and monitoring systems
