RN (Registered Nurse) - ICU

Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week

Unit Details

• Unit: ICU
• Beds: 36
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Common Diagnoses: Abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, dyspnea, headache, injury, extremity pain
• Hospitalist or Intensivist: In house
• Respiratory Therapy: In the ICU 24/7
• RT Equipment: CPAP, BiPap, high flow, ventilators
• Tele/Monitor Techs: None on this unit

Clinical Responsibilities

• RNs are required to titrate drips.
• Common titratable or set-rate drips: Vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, analgesics, metabolic, specialized
• The charge nurse takes an assignment.

Required Qualifications

• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Must-have skill: NIHSS

Scheduling and Requirements

• Scheduling: Self-scheduling and block scheduling
• Weekends: Full- and part-time employees must self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule, aligned with department needs and equitable distribution among staff.
• Holidays: Holiday requirements apply.
• Call or Standby: Determined by the unit.
• Scrub Color: Navy blue

Floating

• Floating is determined by the unit and may occur within the zone.
• May be asked to float to any other acuity level, including ICU (low-acuity holds with appropriate skillset), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele.

Hiring and Orientation

• Hiring Process: The clinical team interviews the candidate. If selected, an offer is extended on behalf of the facility.
• Travel Radius: 60 miles. A driver's license must be submitted.
• Orientation: Date and location are assigned during orientation week. Clinicians must be in state for orientation week, even if first-day modules are remote.
