Overview

• Location: Omaha, Nebraska
• Setting: 18-bed emergency department
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour days
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: No

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license
• 2 years of emergency department experience
• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• NRP
• TNCC
• Driver’s license required at submittal

Unit Details

• Treats all age groups
• Common cases include chest pain, abdominal pain, cough/congestion, orthopedic injuries, ENT emergencies, behavioral health, sepsis, and stroke
• High-acuity patients are common
• Ratios: 1:4–5 based on acuity
• Certified stroke center
• Charge nurse is present on each shift and takes an assignment

Schedule and Orientation

• Scheduling is based on department needs
• 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation
• Block scheduling is difficult to guarantee

Additional Notes

• No clinical involvement; submit directly to the facility manager for interview
• Pass/fail open-book exam during orientation; a 90% is required to pass
• Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
• Navy blue scrubs required
• RTO must be provided upfront and is limited to 7 or fewer days for the contract
• Telehealth is utilized here
