MS/Tele/PCU Float Pool RN
Overview
- Registered Nurse role in a float pool covering PCU, Tele, and Med Surg.
- Location: Prescott, Arizona.
- Contract length: 13 weeks.
- Shift: Nights, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week.
Unit / Setting
- Float Pool
- Includes MedSurg Tele and PCU across both campuses, including inpatients holding in the ED.
- West med tele is 95 beds, divided into 4 areas.
- MedSurg is broken down into 10-room pods, double occupancy.
- East Campus NextCare has 10 beds with double occupancy and ICU/stepdown patients.
- West campus Stepdown has 14 rooms, double occupancy.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Arizona
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS
- ACLS
- Experience in an Acute Care setting
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience
- Telemetry PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- Telemetry PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- Must be able to interpret strips.
- Must be comfortable managing the majority of these drips: Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Insulin.
- Must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract.
- Must not have been full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year.
- Radius rule: candidates must be within 50 miles.

Schedule / Staffing
- Schedule is published 6 weeks out for 4 weeks at a time.
- Travelers need to be flexible.
- Night shift will try to accommodate block scheduling.
- Every other weekend.
- Holidays are included in the perm staff rotation.
- No call or standby requirement.
- Nurses are notified 2 hours before shift start by text message from the staffing office.
- Charge nurse does not take assignments.
- Nurse aides are used in all settings.
Clinical / Equipment Notes
- Common patient types include geriatric, ortho, post-procedural, post MI, post cardiac cath, and CABG post-op day 3-4.
- Respiratory support includes CPAP, BiPAP, and heated high flow in PCU; CPAP or BiPAP at night in MedSurg.
- Tele monitoring is on the unit, with monitor techs for PCU and MedSurg Tele.
Orientation
- 8-hour general hospital orientation.
- 12-hour shift at West MedTele.
- 12-hour shift at PCU at West.
- East campus orientation is similar and smaller/easier to navigate.
