Registered Nurse (RN) – B3B PCU (Telemetry)

Location: Chandler, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Unit: B3B – CHF Telemetry
• Beds: 30
• Patient Ratios: 1 RN to 3-4 patients
• Patient Care Techs (PCTs): 1 per 15 patients
• Respiratory Therapy Equipment: Nasal Cannula, BiPAP/CPAP (for obstructive sleep apnea only)
• Telemetry Monitoring: Centralized telemetry; RNs must interpret EKG strips independently
• Common Diagnoses: Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), fluid overload, shortness of breath, arrhythmias, alcohol-related conditions

Schedule & Work Details

• Shift: Nights (7 PM – 7 AM)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Hours per Week: 36
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: 2 major holidays and 2 minor holidays (depending on contract dates)
• Floating: Required to float to any telemetry floor
• Call/Standby: No regular call; standby depends on census fluctuations
• Dress Code: Navy scrubs

Required Skills & Responsibilities

• Must be able to titrate drips (cardiac medications, heparin, Lasix, bumex, etc.)
• EKG monitoring and interpretation skills required
• Charge Nurse takes no patient assignments; manager present
• Orientation: 2 days unit-specific floor orientation
• Pass/fail Sim Lab on day one of orientation (failure results in removal from consideration for 6 months)
• Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (maximum 2 attempts allowed; failure results in 6-month disqualification)

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in CHF Telemetry or similar unit (no exceptions)
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association)
• Candidates must not have been employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any related facilities within the past year

Additional Notes

• Auto-offer based on clinical prescreen
• Charge nurse and house supervisor roles are separate; charge nurse does not take patient assignments
