Overview

• 13-week travel assignment in Lakewood, Colorado
• Night shift, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
• Unit: NTICU
• 24 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
• The Neuro ICU is part of the acute care provided with the 76 ICU beds

Required Qualifications

• CO or compact RN license
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• NIHSS
• NIHSS is listed as a must-have skill

Unit Details

• Common patient types include abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, dyspnea, headache, injury, and extremity pain
• RN titration of drips is required
• Common titratable or set-rate drips include vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, analgesics, metabolic, and specialized
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• No nurse aides on the unit
• Hospitalist or intensivist in house
• RT in ICU 24/7
• RT equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and vents
• No tele/monitor techs on the unit

Scheduling and Work Expectations

• Self-scheduling and block scheduling
• Full-time and part-time staff are expected to self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
• Holiday work is required
• Call or standby is determined by the nurse manager
• First to float
• May float within Zone 3 if there is an extreme need

Orientation and Dress Code

• Orientation date and location are assigned during the week of orientation
• Clinicians must be in state for the week of orientation even if first-day modules are remote
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
