Cardiac Stepdown RN

Overview

• Travel assignment for an experienced Cardiac Stepdown RN in a True Stepdown Unit.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Shift options listed: 7a-7p, 3p-3a, 7p-7a.
• Hours: 36 per week.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in California.
• BLS.
• ACLS.
• NIHSS.
• 2+ years of experience.
• Stepdown nurses required; not med/tele.
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.

Unit Details

• Unit: TCU - True Stepdown Unit.
• 20 tele beds, 16 cardiac intervention beds, and 8 overflow tele beds.
• Ratios: 1:3 or 1:4 based on acuity.
• EMR: Cerner.
• Charge nurse role runs with no patients.
• Nurse aides run 1 per every 12 patients; 3 with a full unit.
• Scrub color: Navy.

Schedule and Work Expectations

• Every other weekend required.
• Every other holiday rotating.
• Floor-specific orientation: 3 shifts on the unit.
• Floating includes CPAP, BIPAP, and Hi-flow O2; no full vent.

Clinical Setting

• Telemetry, cardiac intervention unit, and tele overflow.
• Common patient types include post cath patients, post TEE, post cardioversion, ablations, AICD, external temp pacer patients, transcutaneous pacing, chest tubes, tube feedings, and patients requiring titration of drips such as amiodarone, cardizem, nitro, pressors, dopamine, insulin, and heparin.

Preferred

• Progressive Care Certified Nurse if working as Charge Nurse.
