Job Opportunity: RN (Registered Nurse) - Acute Care 5 (MedSurg)

Location: Albany, Georgia
Contract Length: 17 weeks

Required Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of experience in Acute Care 5 (MedSurg) specialty
BLS (AHA) certification required
NIHSS certification required (both BLS and NIHSS must be AHA)

Job Details

Unit Size: 44 beds, staffed with 40 nurses
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:5, possibly 1:6 for both day and night shifts
Shifts: 12-hour shifts (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: As needed
Scrub Color: Caribbean Blue
Telemetry: Yes, but monitored on a different unit
Floating: Required to float to all acute care and cardiology units, including emergency care for acute care patient holds
EMR System: Meditech (experience preferred but not required)
Orientation:
- General orientation: 1 week (includes EMR training)
- Floor-specific orientation: 2 days

Additional Information

Strict 75-mile radius from the traveler's driver's license address to the hospital
Nurse Aides/CNAs ratio: 1:8 to 1:10, sometimes used as sitters
