Job Opportunity: Nurse Manager - GI/Endoscopy
Location: Seattle, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an Interim Nurse Manager for a GI/Endoscopy unit. The role involves managing staffing, call-out coverage, time card monitoring and approval, troubleshooting day-of issues related to equipment, supplies, and patient care, addressing accountability concerns, and resolving patient safety issues reported through the system. The position supports team morale and requires effective communication, flexibility, and initiative.
Unit Details
- Unit: GI Endoscopy (Buck 3) and therapeutic GI suites (Jones 5)
- Procedure Rooms: 4 procedure rooms, 1 gastric lab, 1 HRA room (Buck 3); 4 procedure rooms (Jones 5)
- Average Cases per Day: 35-45 (Buck 3), up to 64 cases possible; 15-25 (Jones 5)
- Common Procedures: EGD, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, FMT, esophageal and anorectal motility studies, 24hr pH, Bravo; ERCPs, EUS, fluoroscopy use (Jones 5)
- EMR Systems: Currently Cerner and Provation, transitioning to Epic on 5/2
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 5 shifts per week, 8 hours each (5/8s)
- No weekend, weeknight, or holiday call requirements
- Flexible scheduling available for urgent issues or additional team support
Required Certifications
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
Required Experience and Skills
- Several years of outpatient endoscopy experience
- Exposure to therapeutic endoscopy
- Minimum of 2 years previous leadership experience
- Prefer moderate sedation experience
- Previous Epic EMR experience required, preferably with experience in Epic conversion
- Strong initiative, quick learner, positive attitude, and ability to support team morale
- Effective communication skills and flexibility
Orientation and Dress Code
- Unit/Department specific orientation provided by director and/or manager colleague
- Procedural scrubs provided by the organization
Additional Information
- Scrubbing is not required for this RN Manager role
- No charge nurse, house supervisor, or OR tech responsibilities
- The manager will be responsible for managing staffing, time card approvals, troubleshooting, accountability, and patient safety follow-up
