Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Albany, Georgia
Contract Length: 17 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Work Settings: ICU and Emergency Room (ER)
- Facility Size: 300+ beds
- Patient Types: Adults and Pediatrics; NICU therapists are separate
- Shift Times: 6:45 AM and 6:45 PM starts (flexible clock-in window)
- Weekend/Holiday: Rotating holiday schedule; weekend shifts on either Mon-Thurs or Fri-Sun teams
- Call: None
Requirements
- Licenses & Certifications:
- Georgia Respiratory Therapist License
- RRT Certification
- BLS, ACLS, PALS (NRP required if working in NICU)
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapy experience (critical care experience required)
- Must have completed at least 1 prior travel contract
- Skills:
- Comfortable and experienced with intubation and airway management
- Ability to manage ventilators (Servo U and I models) and perform advanced respiratory procedures (A-line placement, bronchoscopy, ABG collection, bedside PFTs)
- Able to handle high workload and multiple airways (up to 4 per therapist in ICU)
- Confident in vent management and interpreting ABGs with critical value alerts
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform all respiratory therapy duties including:
- Nebulizer treatments, airway management, vapotherm, BiPAP, CPAP, ventilator management
- Arterial line placement and blood gas management in ICU
- Intubation and bronchoscopy procedures
- Chest physiotherapy (CPT)
- Serve as Charge RT and Clinical Coordinator when assigned
- Collaborate with hospitalists and intensivists who are available 24/7
Orientation & Training
- Floor assignments:
- Week 1: Hospital and charting orientation
- Weeks 2-4: Gradual increase in treatment minutes (300 to 500 minutes per day)
- ICU assignments: Additional week of orientation provided
Work Environment & Additional Information
- EMR System: Meditech
- Team Size: Approximately 10-11 therapists per shift
- Uniform: Ceil blue scrubs and jacket only
- Pharmacy: Available 24/7
- No floating between units
- Must be able to work adult ICU and manage ventilators confidently
