Registered Nurse – Endoscopy

Location: Sacramento, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days
Hours: 8-hour shifts (varied start between 6:30 AM - 9:00 AM), 40 hours per week

Job Description

Seeking an experienced Endoscopy/GI nurse for a travel contract in a hospital setting. The unit includes:

• 3 procedure rooms
• 8 Pre-op beds
• 4 PACU beds

Typical caseload: Monday to Friday, 8-15 procedures per day.
Common procedures and patient diagnoses include polypectomy, foreign body removal, colonoscopy, endoscopy, EGD with dilation, and Barrett's esophagus treatment.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Endoscopy nursing experience
• ERCP experience is mandatory
• At least 1 year of telemetry experience required; 1 year of critical care preferred
• Current California RN license
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA)
• Completion of procedure sedation class specific to the facility
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 24-48 hours prior to contract signing (two attempts allowed)

Additional Requirements

• Two supervisory references required at time of submission (one within the last 12 months, one within the last 3 years)
• Floor-specific orientation: 2 days with a preceptor
• Ability to float to pre- and post-surgical inpatient areas

Work Environment & Schedule

• EMR system: Cerner
• Charge nurse responsibilities included
• Endoscopy techs available to assist with room turnover
• Call requirements:

  • One weekend call per month (from 5:30 PM Friday to 6:30 AM Monday)
  • One holiday call during the contract
  • Weeknight call coverage Monday-Friday from 5:30 PM to 6:30 AM, minimum two weekend calls per month and six weeknight calls total
• 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available
• Scrub color provided by the facility
• Telemetry monitoring system: Phillips

• Floating assignments include pre- and post-surgical inpatient areas
• Start times and schedules are set 4 weeks in advance
• This position requires flexibility with varied start times and call coverage
