Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (Night Shift)
Location: Frisco, Texas
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
Hours per Week: 32
Job Summary
Provide patient-focused nursing care for acutely ill or injured patients of all ages using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Deliver holistic, compassionate care addressing clinical, spiritual, and emotional needs. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care and maintain high patient satisfaction.
Essential Job Functions
- Triage and prioritize patient care based on acuity and resources.
- Implement and monitor care plans; document patient condition accurately.
- Perform basic respiratory services including capnography, pulse oximetry, oxygen administration, and nebulized treatments.
- Facilitate patient transfers and discharges.
- Adhere to laboratory safety and specimen processing procedures.
- Maintain composure under stress and adapt to workplace changes.
- Participate in policy development, staff education, competency training, and performance evaluations.
- Follow all applicable regulatory guidelines including Texas Board of Nursing standards.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of federal and state laws applicable to emergency nursing practice.
- Effective organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize tasks.
- Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and use of hands.
- Ability to lift/move objects up to 25 lbs occasionally; regularly lift/move more than 10 lbs.
- Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Constant decision-making and concentration required.
Reporting Structure
Reports to Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, or Director of Nursing.
No prior travel experience is required for this position.
