• 8-hour day shift
• Monday through Friday

Job Description

• Perform a variety of histological procedures on tissue specimens under supervision.
• Identify and process all tissue specimens received in anatomic pathology.
• Assign accession numbers and enter patient demographic information accurately for each specimen.
• Assist pathologists with gross examination of tissue specimens, including preparing labeled tissue cassettes and operating tissue processors.
• Process, cut sections from embedded tissue blocks, stain, and deliver prepared slides for microscopic examination.
• Assist with frozen section preparation immediately upon specimen receipt.
• Perform special histochemical staining procedures as requested by pathologists within required timeframes.
• Prepare slides or anatomical material for external laboratory consultation or processing as needed.
• File and store tissue slides and blocks properly, ensuring retention for the required length of time and assist with specimen rotation in storage.

Required Qualifications

• Certification as a Histotechnologist by ASCP or equivalent certification.
