LPN/LVN - Rehab (Travel Position)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a 49-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital specializing in stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic injuries, and other conditions requiring inpatient rehab.
- Patient population consists of adults with high acuity needs, often referred from a Trauma Center.
- The unit functions similarly to a medical-surgical unit with high acuity patients.
- Patient ratio is approximately 1 nurse to 7 patients.
- Equipment includes mobility aids (ceiling lifts, Sara Stedy, Sara Plus, slide boards), vital sign machines, EKG, blood glucose monitors, and computers for charting.
- Electronic Health Record system used: EPIC.
- Shift: 12-hour shifts (6:30 PM to 7:00 AM).
- Weekend and holiday rotations every other weekend.
- Call requirements apply.
- Float requirements: Currently no, but may be required to float to a satellite inpatient rehab facility within 20 minutes in the near future.
- Nurses are expected to assist CNAs and respond to call lights to ensure patient safety.
- Mandatory 30-minute unpaid breaks per shift (two 15-minute paid breaks included). Staff must clock out for breaks and cannot stay past shift end without supervisor approval.
- Attendance and tardy policies must be followed.
- Local candidates are not accepted for this travel position.
Required Qualifications
- Valid LPN / LVN license in Wisconsin
- Minimum 2 years of LPN / LVN nursing experience
- Nursing experience within the last year
- Experience in a rehabilitation setting
- Med Surg nursing experience
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
- BLS certification
Additional Information
- The facility is accredited by The Joint Commission and CARF for its comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation and stroke specialty programs.
- Orientation dates are scheduled throughout the year (specific dates not included here).
This position is ideal for LPN/LVN nurses with solid inpatient rehab or med-surg experience who are comfortable working in a high-acuity rehab setting and using EPIC.
