Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Cardiac Stepdown (Travel Assignment)

Assignment Details

• Employment Type: Travel
• Contract Length: 24 weeks
• Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 48
• Weekend Hours: As required, typically every other weekend
• Call Requirements: None
• Float Requirements: As needed to similar or lower acuity units

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Cardiac Stepdown / Intermediate Care
• Number of Beds: 32
• Patient Ratios: 1:3 to 1:4
• Patient Population: Post-op CABG/Valve surgery, thoracotomies, respiratory failure, chest pain
• Equipment Used: Chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, BiPAP machines
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Current LPN license eligible or active in Missouri
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) only
• IV certification (must be verifiable on Nursys)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Cardiac Stepdown, inpatient setting

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort
• Maintain professional accountability and uphold patient rights and confidentiality
• Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by self and other caregivers
• Work within the scope of nursing practice and comply with Missouri Nurse Practice Act and facility standards
• Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, bending, stooping, lifting and turning patients with assistance, and exposure to blood and body fluids

Work Environment and Culture

• Must be a team player who promotes a positive culture
• Dress code: All black scrubs with facility logo on top; no hoodies, jackets without logo, t-shirts, open-toed shoes, earbuds, or fake nails allowed
• Night shift orientation occurs on day shift; availability for full week orientation required

This position requires flu vaccination between November 1 and April 1 with no declinations accepted.
