Role: RN, Emergency Department (ED) Employment type: Travel Openings: 1 Contract length: 13 weeks Location: Lewiston, Maine (about 45 minutes from Portland International Airport)

Schedule

Shift: 10:45am to 11:15pm
Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
Weekends: No guarantee of weekends off, though the team works to make schedules fair
Call: None

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Maine
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience
ED experience within the last year
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) certification
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
Experience with ventilator management

Clinical Scope

Patient population: Pediatrics to geriatrics (about 5% pediatric patients)
Patient ratio: 1:4
Trauma and stroke: Level 2 trauma center and chest pain center; teleneurology stroke support is provided in partnership with an outside hospital
Not on site: No PICU; pediatric intensive care patients are transferred out
Float requirement: Travelers are required to float to ED Holding

Equipment and Systems

Ultrasound, bladder scanner, neuro telemetry computer, and handheld devices
Software familiarity: Omnicell, Epic, and SBAR

Facility Information

Hospital: 190-bed teaching hospital with Joint Commission accreditation
Services: 24/7 emergency care, cardiovascular services, cancer care, orthopedic care, women's and children's health, and primary care
Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
