Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Facility: Orthopedic Unit, 3rd Floor


Position Details

  • Specialty: Orthopedics (Ortho)
  • Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Shift: Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (flexible, must be specified on submission)
  • Assignment Length: 26 weeks
  • Weekend Hours: As required, typically every other weekend
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Number of Openings: 4

Licensure & Certifications

  • Required: Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri
  • Required Certification: BLS (American Heart Association only)
  • Preferred Certification: ACLS (American Heart Association only)

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of inpatient orthopedic nursing experience
  • Must have teamwork, dependability, and flexibility
  • Float to similar or lower acuity units as needed

Unit Information

  • Number of Beds: 30
  • Patient Ratio: 1:6
  • EMR System: EPIC
  • Patient Type: Medical orthopedic patients

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
  • Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments
  • Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
  • Evaluate care effectiveness of other caregivers
  • Adhere to Missouri Nurse Practice Act and facility standards
  • Physical demands include standing/walking most of the shift, bending, stooping, lifting/turning patients with assistance, and occasional push/pull/grip up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to blood and body fluids is a risk

Orientation & Scheduling

  • Night shift orientation occurs on day shift; availability for full orientation week required
  • Flexible scheduling options available (blocked scheduling may be approved)
  • Return to Office (RTO) policy: 5 days or less, must make up time later
  • Holiday RTO: 1 per assignment allowed

Dress Code

  • Scrubs: Black only
  • No other attire permitted
