Unit Information
- Unit: Labor & Delivery
- Number of Beds: 12
- Patient Ratios: 1:2
- Staffing: RNs, unit secretary, OR techs
- Documentation Systems: CPN, Meditech
- Scheduling Requirements:
- 3 weekend shifts
- 1 call shift for RNs
- 2 call shifts for techs
- 3 twelve-hour shifts per week
- Floating Policy: Travelers float first
- Patient Experience: Shared decision making
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience
- Advanced skills including:
- Care of laboring patients
- Care of newborns immediately after delivery
- Circulating and recovering C-section patients
- Procedures performed on unit:
- Vaginal deliveries
- C-sections
- D&C (dilation and curettage)
- Cerclage
- Epidural anesthesia
- Tub labor
Certifications & Licenses Required
- Registered Nurse License
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- AWHONN Intermediate (not advanced) or CEFM (Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Dress Code
- Scrubs not provided by hospital
- Acceptable colors: Ceil Blue, Navy Blue, or Gray
Additional Notes
- Unit includes RNs, unit secretaries, and OR techs with FA certification
- Emphasis on shared decision making and patient experience
- Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments
