Job Description
- Work in an inpatient rehabilitation setting with a high-acuity patient population.
- Patient cases primarily come from trauma center referrals.
- The facility specializes in rehabilitation for stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic injuries, and other conditions requiring inpatient rehabilitative services.
- The role may include some CNA duties related to patient stabilization.
- The unit functions similarly to a medical-surgical unit.
- Nurses are expected to assist CNAs and respond to patient call lights for safety.
- Shift options: 12-hour shifts (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM).
- Weekend and holiday rotations required (every other weekend).
- Call requirements apply.
- Float to a nearby satellite inpatient rehab facility may be required in the future (within 20 minutes).
Required Qualifications
- Valid LPN/LVN license in Wisconsin.
- Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience within the last year.
- Experience in acute care, inpatient, and rehabilitation settings.
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Unit Information
- 49-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit.
- Patient-to-nurse ratio approximately 7:1.
- Equipment includes mobility aids (ceiling lifts, Sara Stedy, Sara Plus, slide boards), vital sign machines, EKG, blood glucose monitors, and computers for charting.
- Patient population: Adults requiring inpatient rehabilitation with high acuity needs.
Additional Notes
- Strict attendance policy with less than 3 absences required to qualify for completion bonuses.
- Mandatory 30-minute unpaid breaks and two 15-minute paid breaks during 12-hour shifts.
- Staff must adhere to scheduled shift times unless approved by supervision.
- Local candidates are not accepted for this travel position.
