Job Description

As a critical care registered nurse, you will provide care for patients experiencing severe medical issues such as heart attack, stroke, shock, severe trauma, and respiratory distress. Responsibilities include:

• Assessing patient conditions and implementing care plans
• Treating wounds and providing advanced life support
• Assisting physicians with procedures
• Monitoring and recording vital signs
• Managing ventilators, monitors, and other medical equipment (including adjusting ventilators/IABP)
• Administering intravenous fluids and medications
• Suctioning
• Collaborating with the critical care team
• Responding to life-saving situations using nursing standards and protocols
• Acting as a patient advocate
• Providing education and support to patient families
• Caring for pre- and post-operative patients
• Some may perform case management, policy making, or administrative duties

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience with ventilators
• Experience caring for patients with tracheostomies (trach)
