Job Description

This position provides comprehensive nursing care on a 54-bed medical surgical unit serving a diverse adult patient population, including adolescents and geriatrics. The unit treats a wide variety of conditions such as renal, hepatic, respiratory, cardiac, neurologic, psychiatric, and infectious diseases. Common patient diagnoses include cellulitis, COPD, diabetes, alcohol withdrawal, pneumonia, and sepsis.

The role requires delivering optimal patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse will coordinate care with other healthcare professionals and provide individualized care over an entire episode of treatment.

Work Schedule & Requirements

• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (days)
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
• Call: Not required
• May be required to float within the organization up to competency level
• Required to pick up one additional shift every 4 weeks
• Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
• The environment is fast-paced and busy, comparable to a Level 1 trauma center

Unit & Patient Population

• 54-bed medical unit
• Multidisciplinary care for adult patients (18 years and older)
• Patient conditions include a broad range of acute and chronic illnesses
• Patient population ranges from young adults to geriatric patients

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Nevada
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
