Position Overview

Seeking a Surgical Technologist First Assistant with a specialty in Operating Room to assist cardiothoracic surgeons in vascular and open-heart procedures. This role requires proficiency in endoscopic vein harvesting (saphenous and radial veins) for bypass surgeries and working closely with the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) team.

• Shift: Day (4x10 hour shifts)
• Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
• Required Certifications: CST (Certified Surgical Technologist)
• Years of Experience Required: 4+ years in Surgical Tech specialty
• Preferred Certification: NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
• EMR System: EPIC
• Dress Code: Black scrubs

Responsibilities

• Assist as the first assist to the surgeon in all cardiothoracic and vascular procedures.
• Perform primary functions of a CVOR First Assist in the Operating Room.
• Maintain accountability for surgical instruments and coordinate patient care with the surgical team.
• Uphold patient rights and confidentiality.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience as a CVOR First Assist, including experience within the last year.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proficiency in assisting cardiothoracic surgeons in vascular and open-heart procedures, including endoscopic vein harvesting for bypass surgeries.
