Job Description
- Must have 2 years of experience in a hospital setting.
- Hospital and inpatient rehab experience preferred.
- Experience with stroke evaluation and treatment required.
- Procedures performed on unit include:
- Manual therapy for neuro re-education
- Therapeutic exercise
- Functional activity
- Neuromuscular re-education
- Self-care
- Functional electrical stimulation
Work Environment
- Unit has 44 beds with a patient ratio of 4:1.
- Staffing includes 10 OT/PT teams, 3 speech therapists, and 1 tech.
- Equipment used: Sara Lifts, Ceiling Lifts, Bioness, Diego.
- Documentation system: Meditech Expanse.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts between 7am-5pm; weekends rotate.
- Floating policy: May float to acute hospital if rehab census is low.
- Patient experience standards include use of AIDET communication and immediate service recovery.
- Unit dress code: Black scrub bottoms and royal blue top preferred.
Certifications & Licenses Required
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in Virginia
- Occupational Therapist with 2 years of experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- OTR (Occupational Therapist Registered) certification
- Occupational Therapist (OT) Assessment or USP 800 Hazardous Drug Risk certification
- Experience with stroke evaluation and treatment
