Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Location: Plainfield, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 24 weeks


Job Summary

  • Operate Nuclear Medicine equipment and provide immobilization devices as needed.
  • Evaluate radio images using PACS to ensure proper identification and diagnostic quality.
  • Provide radiation protection for self and patients following safety protocols.
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and radioactive tracer compounds.
  • Perform radionuclide procedures including organ imaging, function studies, and assist physicians in therapeutic use of radioisotopes.
  • Calibrate equipment and assay radionuclides.
  • Inspect radiopharmaceutical packages per state and NRC guidelines.
  • Maintain records of radioisotope receipt, use, storage, and disposal in compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and contamination-free conditions of rooms, equipment, and personnel.
  • Follow NRC, State, and JCAHO guidelines and practices.
  • Rotate work assignments including Cardiology and PET/CT as needed.
  • Perform daily clerical duties using EPIC, Teletracking, Nuclear Medicine Information System, patient scheduling, and computer processing related to patient studies.
  • Work scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends; overtime and on-call assignments as needed.
  • Greet patients using A.I.D.E.T. standards.
  • Adhere to policies on employee ID, behavior, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Modify and deliver patient care tailored to specific needs (age, culture, language, disabilities).
  • Communicate effectively with patients and caregivers at appropriate developmental and educational levels.
  • Follow organizational competencies and standards.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 1 year clinical experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in a busy hospital setting.

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology required.

Certifications & Licensure

  • Valid NJDEP license required.
  • ARRT or NMTCB registry required.
  • BLS certification by American Heart Association required.
