Job Description
- Independently provide nursing care to acutely ill neonatal patients under nurse leader supervision.
- Perform nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, therapeutic care.
- Create a compassionate environment supporting patient and family through authentic presence and trust-building.
- Collect and document patient data; interpret assessment data to identify physiological and psychosocial risks.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Prioritize nursing actions using education, experience, and assessment data.
- Establish nursing diagnoses and revise care plans as needed.
- Manage rapidly changing patient conditions and activate emergency protocols when necessary.
- Coordinate care activities with nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers.
- Adhere to evidence-based practices, therapeutic standards, and infection control policies.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional governance, and ongoing education.
- Maintain compliance with nursing scope of practice, ethical standards, and hospital policies.
- Demonstrate clinical knowledge and skills specific to neonatal intensive care.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 3 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Competency in advanced nursing theory
- Experience with Cerner Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

- Must adhere to ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics, and California Nurse Practice Act.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary care team.
- Commitment to maintaining current nursing knowledge and competencies.
