Job Description
- Independently prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care for acutely ill patients under nurse leader supervision.
- Performs nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, therapeutic care.
- Creates a compassionate, patient- and family-centered environment supporting healing.
- Collects and documents patient data; interprets assessment data to identify physiological and psychosocial risk factors.
- Collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Prioritizes nursing actions using education, experience, and assessment data.
- Establishes nursing diagnoses and evaluates effectiveness of interventions, revising care plans as needed.
- Responds quickly and appropriately to changes in patient status, including activation of emergency protocols.
- Coordinates care activities with nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers.
- Adheres to therapeutic standards, evidence-based practices, infection control policies, medication administration, and controlled substance regulations.
- Participates in staff meetings, professional governance, and ongoing education to maintain competencies.
- Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skill relevant to the patient population served.
- Complies with nursing scope of practice, ethical standards, and hospital policies.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
- Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, excluding Home Health, Hospice, and School Services.
- At least 1 year of nursing experience within the last year, excluding Home Health, Hospice, and School Services.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Medical-Surgical or Emergency Room nursing.
Additional Information
- Must adhere to California Nurse Practice Act and ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.
- Emphasis on critical thinking, nursing judgment, team collaboration, patient and employee safety.
- Night shift assignment.
